Milo Hopkins, proprietor of the City Stables, distributed this advertisement to tourists seeking a drive up to the Welch family's Big Trees Grove. Hopkins had a contract with Southern Pacific Railroad to drive tourist groups from Monterey's famous Del Monte Hotel from the Santa Cruz depot up to the Big Trees.
After retiring from the livery business, Hopkins became the manager of a competing resort, Cowell's Big Trees in 1902.
